We have made it all the way to Guangzhou, and are now about 18 hours away from getting Miah. We left the hotel at Shanghai this morning and went to the airport. Our guide helped us get checked in to our flight and away we went. One noteworthy thing about the flight was that Shanghai was extremely hot and humid - we pulled away from the terminal as normal, but were held back from the runway and had to wait maybe 10-15 mins before we got on our way. We had no air on, so the plane got very very hot, very very quick. On the plus side, Angelina quickly fell asleep and remained asleep right up until we got back to the airport terminal. She woke up and asked how come the flight went by so quickly? Now that's the way to travel!
We were met at the airport by our new guide and driver, who took us to our hotel. The hotel is very very nice, lobby is just spectacular and this afternoon we took Angelina swimming again in the huge swimming pool.
One other item of bravery to report... dinner time came around and of course we were all hungry. The hotel is in a pretty busy spot, but the problem is that all the local restaurants had food pictures that looked ambiguous, with text descriptions written in Chinese. Ok! Anyway, we picked a place pretty much at random and tried to piece together an approximate food order, across the significant language barrier. The food came and was actually very good and didn't cause any "unwanted complaints" so it all worked out well.
According to our guide, we should pick up Miah at around 3pm tomorrow. Can't wait!
